University of Tsukuba & Saigon Hi-Tech Park Cooperative Laboratory Opening Ceremony (21/9/2013)

On September 21, 2013, Graduate School of Comprehensive Human Sciences, University of Tsukuba and R&D Center, Saigon Hi-Tech Park organized the opening ceremony of the cooperative laboratory.

Attendants from University of Tsukuba were the President, Prof. Kyosuke Nagata, Vice President, Prof. Caroline Benton, Provost of Graduate School of Comprehensive Human Sciences, Prof. Yasunori Kanaho, Vice Provost, Prof. Mitsuyasu Kato, Director of Southeast Asian Office, Prof. Osamu Ohneda and some other professors from the Graduate School.

Attendants from Saigon Hi-Tech Park were the President, Assc. Prof. Le Hoai Quoc and Vice President cum R&D Center’s Director, Dr. Duong Minh Tam, Vice Director of Training Center, Dr. Nguyen Minh Thanh and other staffs of SHTP.

Joining the hosts were guest attendants from relevant universities, research institutes and companies in HCMC like Prof. Chu Pham Ngoc Son, Chairman of Chemical Society of Ho Chi Minh City and Director of Sac Ky Hai Dang Company, Assc. Prof. Nguyen Cuu Khoa, Director of Institute of Applied Material Science, Dr. Pham Van Tan, Vice Director of Institute of Agriculture Engineering & Post-Harvest Technology, Assc. Prof. Nguyen Thi Quynh, Chairs of Scientific Committee, Institute of Tropical Biology and researchers from institutes as well as representatives from relevant companies.

The laboratory is equipped with advanced equipment to serve cooperative research and training activities. University of Tsukuba and SHTP will start the first research activity with Nanpouyaku project, a research project of medicinal materials from medicinal plants available in Vietnam. The laboratory will provide research facility for this Nanpouyaku project. The laboratory will also be used for training programs in field of life science, which are part of the cooperative activities.

The ceremony started with opening remarks by the two Presidents and followed by introduction of the laboratory and its future activities. Then, a guest attendant, Assc. Prof. Nguyen Thi Quynh presented the “Current status of plant used in traditional medicine in Vietnam”. Prof. Kyosuke Nagata also presented a lecture on “Development of Napouyaku Project”.

After the opening ceremony, all guests were invited to visit the laboratory facility.
